About me

I am a Brazilian woman, an immigrant, and a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community. These aspects of my identity deeply inform my approach as a psychotherapist, as I bring the perspective of lived experience into my work.

Professionally, I hold a degree in Clinical Psychology from Brazil, a rigorous five-year program that included academic coursework and supervised training. I became a registered psychologist there and have been practicing as a psychotherapist since 2019. During this time, I also initiated and facilitated a therapy group for LGBTQ+ individuals, creating a supportive space for people to share their experiences, navigate challenges, and foster resilience.

After moving to Canada, I earned a diploma in Social Service Work and began working closely with vulnerable populations, including individuals experiencing homelessness, those navigating substance use, and people seeking refuge from life-threatening situations in their home countries.

When asked what kind of clients I work with, I emphasize that I don’t define people by their challenges or symptoms. I see each client as a whole person, and I am committed to walking alongside you, learning from your unique experiences, and offering tailored support. I feel honoured to be part of your healing journey, witnessing your growth and resilience as you move toward a more fulfilling and authentic life.

What can you expect from my approach?

Throughout my career, I have developed a strong foundation in a variety of therapeutic approaches and skills, including widely recognized methods like Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT). I strive to tailor my interventions to align with what is most appropriate and meaningful for each client’s unique needs and goals. However, the approaches that truly guide and shape my work are Existential Phenomenology, and Social Constructionist. Let me explain these concepts in a way that feels clear and accessible for you.

Combining social constructionism and existential phenomenology in therapy creates a holistic approach that explores both the client’s personal, lived experiences and the societal and relational contexts that shape their identity and challenges.
